Today we finished our time of ministry in the Santa Rosa community. Over the past several days we have talked to families in their homes and shared the Gospel with many people. Like America, most people here tell you that they know Christ and have called upon Him in faith — yet when you press them on what that means they struggle to explain. Therefore, during our last day there, we visited several people with whom we had in depth conversations about Jesus and walking with Him.

I wrote yesterday about Phillip sharing the Gospel through a study about Psalm 1. Today, I had the opportunity to share about the change that Jesus brings about in our lives. One of the questions asked yesterday was, “Why do people who say they know Jesus look like everyone else?” So, we studied today about what it means to be changed by Christ and what that change looks like. At the end of the study, one of the older Christian men encouraged us greatly by saying that he has lived for a long time, but over the past few days he has learned much through the studies. It was a great blessing and confirmation!

20131231-214616.jpgThrough the donations of our supporters and the generosity of First Baptist Church, we were able to provide Bibles for all of the people who needed one at our studies. This ministry to these people will provide a lasting influence for discipleship in the months to come. If you donated to make this happen, thank you so much and please know that this one gift to the people — a Bible — can and will bear much fruit for the Kingdom of God.

Tonight, we had the opportunity to throw and surprise baby shower for Pastor Tony’s wife, Yanette (pronounced “Janette”). It was a great surprise that blessed this family very much. They received many gifts from the team. These kinds of things are not commonplace for people in the DR, so it was not just unexpected, but greatly appreciated.

20131231-214451.jpgPlease continue to pray for us as we go to minister in another community tomorrow by the name of El Baden. We will take the same approach: knocking on doors, sharing our testimonies, and then leading Bible studies and preaching the Gospel on Thursday and Friday. Thank you so much for praying for us. Please know that your prayers are working to advance the Kingdom hear in the DR!
