Bro. Mike Whitt

Senior Pastor (2005-2013)

Bro. Mike came to FBC in 2005.  Originally a native of Decatur, AL.  Mike graduated from Auburn with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and later received Master of Divinity  from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky.  Mike and his wife, Melissa, were married in 1995 and have four children.

On July 9, 2013, Bro. Mike suddenly passed away after having a heart attack during a church league softball game. This unexpected event sent shockwaves through many people in our community, around our state, throughout the nation, and across the world — God, however, was not surprised.  Instead, in our grief and sadness, we have experienced that the storm clouds had a silver lining of providence.  God’s nearness, clarity, and fullness of purpose have been experienced by all those who have drawn near to Him through Mike’s entrance in glory.

Since Mike’s death, it has a great joy that his family continues to worship and serve at FBC.
